Two rare Classical symphonies frame this unique program. Vanhall, a cellist who read quartets with Mozart, wrote a number of beautiful works for the newly minted form. The "a" minor is full of delightful melodies and vivid ideas, cast with elegance and wit. Haydn's masterpiece dates from 1768 - probably the earliest symphony in a minor key. Our maestro's new edition, rendered from the original, distributes the four horn parts into two - solving the limitations of valeless horns. The work exhudes fiery excitement in its outer movements and gentle charm in the Menuet. Brilliant virtuoso violinist Roberto Cani will solo in Mozart's 5th Violin Concerto in A, K.219
