Orchestra Mozart

The Orchestra Mozart or Orchestra Mozart Bologna is an Italian orchestra based in Bologna.

Creation

The orchestra was created by Carlo Maria Badini, as a special project within the Regia Accademia Filarmonica (Philharmonic Academy) of Bologna. It was funded by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio in Bologna (Foundation of Bologna Savings Bank; Carisbo) .

Claudio Abbado agreed to become Artistic Director of the orchestra and recruit its members. Giuseppe Modugno was designed from beginning as Artistic Secretary.

The orchestra gave its first concert on November 4, 2004 in Bologna's Auditorium Manzoni.

The orchestra performs in many major Italian cities and in Vienna's Musikverein where it is in residence.

The orchestra tours Europe and is regularly invited to the Salzburg Festival.

Composition

The orchestra is basically a chamber orchestra (a form of which is sometimes also called a "Mozart orchestra"), meaning that it has fewer musicians than a full-sized symphony orchestra (especially in the strings, since the number of woodwind, horn players and other musicians is less flexible), producing lighter, chamber-music-like sound. However, the number of musicians sometimes exceed this format: in its June 2012 concerts, for example, the orchestra played Ludwig van Beethoven's Egmont Overture and Robert Schumann's Piano Concerto and Second Symphony with 14 first violins, 12 second violins, 10 violas, 8 cellos and 5 double-basses (typical numbers in a symphony orchestra being 16 first violins, 14 second violins, 12 violas, 10 cellos and 8 double-basses).

Orchestra

An orchestra (/ˈɔːrkᵻstrə/ or US /ˈɔːrˌkɛstrə/; Italian: [orˈkɛstra]) is a large instrumental ensemble used in classical music that contains sections of string (violin, viola, cello and double bass), brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments. Other instruments such as the piano and celesta may sometimes be grouped into a fifth section such as a keyboard section or may stand alone, as may the concert harp and, for 20th and 21st century compositions, electric and electronic instruments. The term orchestra derives from the Greek ὀρχήστρα, the name for the area in front of an ancient Greek stage reserved for the Greek chorus. The orchestra grew by accretion throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, but changed very little in composition during the course of the 20th century.

Orchestra 2001

Orchestra 2001 is an American orchestra, based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, which specialises in the performance of contemporary classical music. Orchestra 2001 is the performance ensemble-in-residence at Swarthmore College, and performs concerts at Swarthmore's Lang Concert Hall as well as in Philadelphia.

James Freeman founded Orchestra 2001 in 1988 as its artistic director and conductor, and continues to serve in both posts. The ensemble is noted for performances of works by composers based in the Philadelphia region, in particular George Crumb. Orchestra 2001 has performed many of Crumb's works since the ensemble's inception. These have included premieres of his American Songbooks series of compositions and other works such as Voices from a Forgotten World. Mozart!

Mozart! is an Austrian musical, originally written in German. The original book and lyrics were written by Michael Kunze and the music and arrangements were composed by Sylvester Levay. The show is a new imagining of the struggles of the famous composer.

The original production was directed by the opera director Harry Kupfer. It premiered on October 2, 1999, in the Theater an der Wien, and the final performance was on 7 May 2001. It ran for 419 performances, showing to approximately 420,000 patrons.

Mozart Santos Batista Júnior

Mozart Santos Batista Júnior, usually known simply as Mozart (born 8 November 1979 in Curitiba, Brazil) is a former professional association football player. He played in both the defensive midfielder and attacking midfielder positions.

Club career

Mozart started his career with Paraná Clube, before moving to France with FC Girondins de Bordeaux in 1998, although he did not play any games for them. He returned to play in Brazil for Coritiba and Flamengo, and then moved to Serie A's Reggina Calcio in 2000.

He later played for Spartak Moscow, in the Russian Premier League. He terminated his contract with Spartak in March 2009, and the following month he signed for Palmeiras. Mozart's time at Palmeiras ended in August 2009 when he joined Serie A side Livorno.

International career

Mozart was in the Brazil squad for the 2000 Summer Olympics.

Coaching career

In June 2014 Mozart marked his return to former club Reggina, being appointed as technical collaborator to new head coach Francesco Cozza, a former teammate of his during his time as a player.

Whom the Gods Love (1936 film)

Whom the Gods Love is a 1936 British biographical film directed by Basil Dean and starring Stephen Haggard, Victoria Hopper and John Loder. The film portrays the life of the Eighteenth Century Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It was also released under the alternative title Mozart.
